Gap Year New Zealand :: your questions :: Do I need any vaccinations for New Zealand?

Do I need any vaccinations for New Zealand?

New Zealand is a wonderful destination for so many reasons, not least of all because there are no poisonous snakes or spiders (excepting one very, very rare one), no malaria, dengue or other mosquito-borne diseases present and no unusual health risks for the traveller. Typically speaking, as long as you are up to date with routine vaccinations such as tetanus you probably won't need to get yourself further vaccinated. However, it always makes sense to visit a travel health clinic or book an appointment with your doctor before setting off to get the latest destination updates and advice regarding medicines or required vaccinations. Additionally, if you are planning to work outdoors, on farms or with animals while you are in New Zealand you might be advised to get certain protective jabs.
