Gap Year New Zealand :: your questions :: What is New Zealand night-life like?

What is New Zealand night-life like?

That will depend where you are and how wild you want to go. In the cities you will always find a mix of bars and clubs as well as cinemas, restaurants, theatres and live music venues. Pick your time of year and you will also find plenty of large scale, multi-stage outdoor music festivals. Wellington has a particularly thriving night-life scene centred around the quirky thoroughfare known as Cuba Street. Adventure-activity focused Queenstown also has a fairly lively and happening scene, attracting as it does so many backpackers. Alternatively, many of the hostels pride themselves on being party central and might have bars on-site or even attached clubs as well as all kinds of organised parties and events aimed at those who like to keep the fun going until the sun comes up.
